Queen’s Cross Church House
Supported Accommodation for Older People with a Younger Outlook
Facilities
Fifty-four Forest Road is a three storey granite house in the west end of Aberdeen with mature front and rear gardens. It is run as a residential home, not a nursing home, and this is reflected in the relatively modest costs to residents who occupy the ground and first floors, the latter accessible by a stair lift. Residents may have the choice of an unfurnished individual bed sitting room or a two-room suite. Some rooms have private bathroom facilities.
Housekeeper
A resident Housekeeper lives on the second floor and can be contacted 24 hours per day via a bell push located in all resident’s rooms.
Meals
Residents’ meals are home cooked and prepared on the premises by our Housekeeper and served three times per day by our friendly and supportive staff. Breakfast is served in each resident’s room with lunch and tea served in the ground floor dining room, overlooking the rear garden

Other Facilities
Our Housekeeper is responsible for the washing of bed linen and towels while the residents are responsible for their own personal laundry.
There is no communal residents’ lounge, but residents can have as much company or privacy as they wish and are encouraged to welcome visitors in their rooms. The garden is there for their use and enjoyment. The House is convenient for local buses and convenience shops including a Pharmacy in nearby Fountainhall Road.
Personal Help
If someone presently calls to help you with bathing or cleaning this would continue. Church House will always be regarded as each resident’s home and treated as such.

General Information
Queen’s Cross Church House is owned by Queen’s Cross Parish Church and is administered by dedicated volunteers from the congregation. Some visionary office bearers, who thought that there was a need to provide accommodation for the elderly where they could enjoy security, company and support, bought the house over thirty years ago. This successful venture is run on a non-profit making basis, which is reflected in its competitive rent structure.
Although a Church Committee manages the premises, no religious activities take place. Nor is there a requirement for a commitment to the Church. However, any resident wishing to come will be made very welcome at Queen’s Cross.
The Church House Commitee
For the undecided …
Consider these :
- Is running a house gradually becoming too much to cope with?
- Is shopping a bit of a chore?
- Would you prefer not to cook for yourself?
- Are your family and friends concerned about you living on your own?
- Would you appreciate the presence of a resident housekeeper?
- Would you prefer company – but be free to join others only when it suited you?
- Are you occasionally lonely – but keen to keep your independence?
- Are you uneasy living on your own?
- Is your garden becoming more of a worry than a pleasure to you?
If you have answered ‘Yes’ to just some of these questions then come and have a look and experience the warm and friendly atmosphere for yourself. We will make you most welcome and ensure our Housekeeper is on hand to answer any additional questions you may have. If now is not the ideal time for your next move, you can add your name to our waiting list and whenever a future vacancy arises we can let you know.
